Our distillery shop is packed full of our tasty spirits, gifts, local products and our staff will always offers a warm welcome, advise on any questions you have, and if time is a push and you can’t join a tour, a little sample or two has been know to be handed out.

For all gin fans out there, a very warm welcome awaits you at Crafty Distillery in gorgeous Galloway to join us on a unique tour for your taste buds, where we’ll also share the secrets of our process.

Meet our friendly team as you are guided through our innovative approach to making our award-winning gins and vodka, learning each step of the process, driven by our uniquely inclusive approach ‘to create spirits for everyone who likes a tipple’. You will discover the unique blend of botanicals that come together to create our heavily awarded Hills & Harbour Gin, the hands on approach that goes into capturing the big fresh flavours from Smoked Pineapples & Burnt Oranges and the slow and careful that crafts our exquisitely pure Scottish vodka.

What’s more, we always go the extra mile at Crafty, so rather than serve a few small gin samples, we’ll take you on a guided tasting through 3x perfect serves of their spirits. You’ll get to enjoy our smooth & vibrant Hills & Harbour Gin, fruity Hills & Harbour Distilled Gin Cocktail and our silky pure 24Seven Vodka, all while kicking back and enjoying the amazing views over the Galloway hills.

We also cater for vehicle drivers who can take away a sample to enjoy later.

Whether you are a whisky novice, a seasoned expert or simply want an authentic Scottish experience, the Crafty Distillery Scotch Whisky Tour has something special for you. A warm Galloway welcome awaits you on this behind the scenes tour at one of Scotland’s most innovative distilleries. You will learn how our special Billy&Co single malt scotch whisky pioneered a new approach in the Scottish whisky industry. For the very first time, our fresh thinking was coupled with major scientific exploration and the feedback from hundreds of whisky fans. This pioneering approach carved out a smooth and characterful new make spirit, truly developed with the people for the people.

The tour offers a strong focus on touch, smell and taste to help transport you into the wondrous journey of transforming malted barley into scotch whisky. Your expert guide will carefully explain each stage as you explore our pioneering approach. Experience how our 100% Scottish barley, unique yeast and innovative processes have elevated the possibilities of whisky flavour to create our unique new make spirit.

At the end of the tour, sit back and enjoy the panoramic views over the picturesque Galloway hills while tasting a sample of our Billy&Co new make spirit.

DISTILLERY MANAGER'S  TOUR
Do you have a true passion for whisky and the craft that goes into it? Then this is for you!

Join our experienced distillery manager Nicky Docherty for a industry insiders peek behind the curtain of what it takes to make very special Scotch Whisky.

The tour takes you on an in-depth journey through our whisky making process, and includes an opportunity to try out yet to be released ageing spirit drawn from casks we have maturing on site.

After the tour you’ll then be treated to an in-depth guided whisky tasting taking you on a journey through, new make spirit, peated and unpeated Scotch Whisky.

Our Distillery Building

Built in 2017 by our founder’s father Billy, our modern building is clad in local larch wood inside and out, delivering a warm and inviting space to enjoy. Nestled on the edge of Newton Stewart our modern grain to glass distillery pumps out gallons of tasty stuff and delivers panoramic views over the Galloway Hills. 

Our shop features our truly unique ‘Tree Bar’. Made with a single piece of local Douglas Fir tree and weighing in at over 3 tonnes, it makes a striking centerpeice to our retail area, where you’ll find all our award-winning spirits, branded gifts and premium mixers.

Find Us

Our distillery sits in the heart of Galloway, South West Scotland juts outside the market town of Newton Stewart. If travelling West (Stranraer direction) on the A75, take the first exit from the roundabout at Newton Stewart onto the A714 Wigtown Road and we are first right after 200 yards. If travelling East on the A75 (Dumfries direction), take the last exit from the roundabout at Newton Stewart onto the A714 Wigtown Road and we are first right after 200 yards.

Our home in Dumfries & Galloway is a special corner of Scotland. Featuring one of the World's few Dark Sky parks, the UK's largest forest park and boasting the most accessible coastline in the UK it offers an unspoilt natural playground ripe for exploring. With mountains, lochs, beaches, walks, bike trails and nature in abundance, Galloway has it all. We are also very fortunate to have some of the world's best produce here from land to shore.
